Finding Items at Fogler Library

Introduction

Some library materials are available online. Some are only available in print, microformat, or on CD, requiring a visit to the library. Some are available in multiple formats.

Journal Articles

1. Click Text links from the database, when available.
2. No Text link? Click :
   • If multiple libraries are listed, click University of Maine
   • Click an Article link (may need to try more than one).
   • No Article link? Click a Journal link covering the year needed (may need to try more than one). You will probably need to search for the article within a new window.
   • No Journal link? Click by journal title to see if the journal is listed in URSUS.
3. No Article Linker? Search the URSUS catalog:
   • Open the URSUS catalog in another browser window
   • Click Journals/Newspapers
   • Search for the title of the JOURNAL (or "Source")
   • Click the title of the journal
   • Click the UM, UMaine System, or Statewide link(s), if available.
4. No link from URSUS? Search Ejournals@UMaine for the title of the JOURNAL (or "Source").
5. Not on the Ejournals list? URSUS will show whether Fogler Library ("ORO") owns the journal in another format, what years we own, and where we shelve them. You will need to come to the library to look at the journal.
6. Not owned by the library? See Getting Items From Other Libraries.

Books and Other Materials

1. Search the URSUS catalog:
   • Search by title or author/editor
   • For book chapters, search URSUS by the title or author/editor of the BOOK ("Source" or "In")
   • The library owns items with the location "ORO"
   • "AVAILABLE" items can be checked out.
