Finding Items at Fogler Library
Introduction
While some library materials are available online, others are only available in
print, microformat, or on CD, requiring a visit to the library. Some items are
available in multiple formats.
Journal Articles
- Click Text links from the database, when available.
- No Text link? Click
:
- If multiple libraries are listed, click University of Maine
- Click an Article link (may need to try more than one).
- No Article link? Click a Journal link covering the year
needed (may need to try more than one). You will probably need to search for
the article within a new window.
- No Journal link? Click by journal title to see if the
journal is listed in URSUS.

- No Article Linker? Search the
URSUS catalog:
- Open the URSUS catalog in another browser window
- Click Journal Title
- Search for the title of the journal or "Source" (do not search for the
title of the article)
- Click the title of the journal
- Click the UM, UMaine System, or
Statewide
link(s), if available.
- No link from URSUS? Search
Ejournals@UMaine for the title of the journal or "Source".
- Not on the Ejournals list? URSUS will show whether Fogler Library
("Orono") owns the journal in another format, what years we own, and where we
shelve them. You will need to come to the library to look at the journal.

Books and Other Materials
- Search the
URSUS catalog:
- Search by Title or Author (author or
editor)
- For book chapters, search URSUS by the title, author, or editor of the
entire book (not the chapter). The book title might follow the label
"Source" or "In".
- Fogler library owns items with the location "Orono"
- "AVAILABLE" items can be checked out.
