To Find Scholarly Information on Your Topic
URSUS - Fogler Library's catalog, use it to look for books. There are other libraries in this catalog, as well; look for O or ORO to tell if a book is here.
If you want to order a book from another library, click on the Request button on the top of the page. You will be asked for your name and barcode (on the back of your MaineCard). You may also want to search in MaineCat, which includes other libraries across Maine (i.e. Bates, Bowdoin, and Colby). You can request these books as well.
Other databases that may be helpful include:
LexisNexis Academic/ US Legal - includes law reviews. For more info look at Using Lesix/Nexis Academic to Find Policy Information
Academic Search Complete - has a few journals in every field, and covers popular news magazines
Google Scholar - This web search engine does include many scholarly articles, but it is generally not as up to date, nor as comprehensive, as the above databases. This link brings you through Fogler Library, thus providing more full text articles through the library's subscriptions.
Request (click for a demo) allows you to order books to be sent to Fogler from other URSUS libraries.
Article Linker (click for a demo) allows you to automatically check URSUS for electronic and/or print subscriptions.
Interlibrary Loan - use for journal articles we do not have access to
APA Style Manual - print, at the Help Desk in the computer area on the 1st floor of the Library
APA Formatting & Style Guide - Purdue Online Writing Lab
The Bluebook - for legal citation in APA format, this is in print at the Help Desk
Introduction to Basic Legal Citation (Cornell) - combines the Bluebook and the ALWD Citation Manual
