Finding Journal Articles
Sociological Abstracts - This covers the journal literature in Sociology (as well as books and disserations). While not all articles are full text, you can use Article Linker to check and see if Fogler Library has access to them.
Other databases that may be helpful include:
Academic Search Complete - This database, which includes a lot of full text, indexes both scholarly and popular articles. Check Identifying Scholarly Journals vs. Popular and Trade Magazines for help in telling the difference. Article Linker is used.
PsycInfo - Covers the psychological literature. Uses Article Linker.
Family and Society Studies Worldwide - Covers human development literature. Uses Article Linker.
Women's Studies International - Covers the interdisciplinary field of women's studies. Uses Article Linker.
Google Scholar - This web search engine does include many scholarly articles, but it is generally not as up to date, nor as comprehensive, as the above databases. Connect through Fogler for more full text.
Article Linker (click for a demo) allows you to automatically check URSUS for electronic and/or print subscriptions.
Interlibrary Loan - use for journal articles we do not have access to
Citing Sources
It is very important to cite words and/or ideas you take straight from another work and put into your paper. In this class, you need to use the American Sociological Association Style Guide.
