Serials Watch List for FY2006 |
9/26/05 This page has been updated to indicate decisions made for 2006 for serials listed below.
Journals may be listed here to propose a format change, cancellation, or replacement. Reasons may include publisher price increase, publisher format change, duplication of subscriptions, low use statistics, feedback that a journal is dated or no longer needed, requests to replace one title with another (for instance, when a professional society switches publishers), non-delivery of subscription, etc.

American Society of Civil Engineers: Switched subscription package of 30 journals to online-only.
BioOne: Canceled the print titles, Journal of Coastal Research (DAR) and Rangeland Ecology and Management, which are already subscribed through BioOne online journals.
BRIN-funded journals: Not canceled, due to faculty response.

IEEE: Switched from print to online for the titles Proceedings of the IEEE and IEEE Spectrum. Note: library already receives 112 IEEE journals in the IEEE All Society Publications Package (ASPP) Online.
Journal of Algorithms: Canceled. Allows new journal to which all its board members and editors transferred, ACM Transactions on Algorithms, as well as ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks.
Los Angeles Times: Issues arrive two weeks after publication, shows little in-house use. $1,000. Latest 6 months are available via Lexis Nexis Academic. Canceled.
Mathematical Reviews: Not canceled, due to faculty response, although content is online in MathSciNet database.
Merian: Canceled due to delivery problems and constant backfile purchase requirements, coupled with little use.
