For Fiscal Year 2011, beginning July 1, 2010, Fogler Library's anticipated
annual serials expenditures are $4,872,000. The Library should be able to
continue its current subscriptions and standing orders given its budget and
supplementary inflation funding from the University, and funds provided by MEIF
(Maine Economic Improvement Fund).
The Library maintains a watch list of serial titles for which changes are
recommended in FY11. At this time (March 2010) there are several
proposed changes for 2011, but no cancellations.
Please send feedback about proposed changes to
Deborah Rollins, Head of
Collection Services.
Note that many vendors announce new pricing and packages in the summer or fall of the year
preceding the subscription year. This means that some decisions about changes
for 2011 (such as format changes, cancellations, additions) must be made later
in 2010 than the spring semester. An updated list of proposed changes will be
posted in early September 2010, prior to submitting the library's final renewal lists for 2011
to our vendors.
Requests for new subscriptions continue to be added to the existing
request
list, which will be consulted if additional funds
become available. Use the Journal Recommendation Form.

subscriptions. The library also provides access from our e-journals portal
http://library.umaine.edu/ejournals/
to more than 60,000 journals and magazines from paid subscriptions to various
journal packages (e.g. Project MUSE, SpringerLink, ScienceDirect, IEEE, Sage,
Taylor & Francis, Wiley Interscience) and databases (e.g. Academic Search
Premier) that include full-text journals.
