How Electronic Resources Are Acquired |
New subscriptions to electronic journals and journal packages, online indexes and databases, digital archives, e-book collections, and other types of electronic resources for libraries represent on-going fiscal commitments and are therefore initiated only when money for this purpose has been added to Fogler Library's base budget, the University of Maine System Libraries' budget, or the state appropriations for electronic resource subscriptions.
The Library's collection of electronic information resources, which includes electronic journals, e-books, and online indexes and databases, is represented in URSUS. Our Indexes and Databases page lists major indexing and abstracting services and full-text journal collections.
In addition to acquisition by purchase, librarians also evaluate and select freely available Internet resources for the Library. These are represented in Subject Guides, Course Guides, and Quick Reference.
