The Minsky Jewish Heritage Video Collection is part of Fogler Library's media collection, thanks to a gift from the Minsky Judaic Studies Fund, supported by the families of Norman Minsky and Leonard and Renee Minsky of Bangor. Faculty member Laura Lindenfeld submitted the grant to the New York-based Charles H. Revson Foundation, which required matching funds from local donors. The collection is one of only two in Maine (the other is at the Jewish Federation of Southern Maine) and serves as an important state resource in furthering the understanding and knowledge of Judaism and Jewish life, history, and culture.
The Minsky Jewish Heritage Video Collection is listed in the online URSUS catalog and housed in Circulation Media-Reserve in Fogler Library. It comprises nearly 200 titles, including feature films, children's programs, foreign and Yiddish classics, television programs, and documentaries. Also, several educational guides are available for use in courses or group study settings.
Videos and guides may be viewed in the library, or checked out to University patrons, as well as organizations and individuals throughout the state. Items may not be renewed.
University students, faculty, and staff at Orono may check out items from Circulation Media-Reserves for 4 weeks.
Other individuals and organizations should request items through Interlibrary Loan at their local public library. Checkout period is 4 weeks.
