Sandy Phippen Honored |

Sandy Phippen, Fogler Library Friends Board
member, Maine author, and teacher at Orono High School, is one of the
finalists for the 2004 Maine Teacher of the Year Award.
Phippen, a 1964 graduate of The University of Maine, has been in the teaching profession for 39 years. He did his student teaching at the old Bangor High School, then taught in Syracuse , N.Y., before moving back to his native Maine in 1974 to teach at Orono High School. "He's a very active and involved member of the faculty," says OHS Assistant Principal Tom Ingraham, "who continues to lead in curriculum work and work with the younger teachers."
