Locating Who Cited Your Work |
| UMaine's version of SciFinder contains the reference databases CAPlus (Chemical Abstracts) and Medline. You can locate who is citing your work within these reference databases by searching for individual works. |
| CAPlus indexes books, conferences, patents and journals. Medline indexes biomedical journals. |
| 1. | In order to use the UMaine database you must first download the CD which can be checked out at the library. For instructions on how to install the the CD go to the SciFinder Scholar Database Guide. To search for a journal article, book chapter, or book, begin by clicking on the Explore search icon. |

| 2. | Click on the icon for Author Name |

| |
| 3. | Type in the author's name. Make sure the "Look for alternative spellings
of the last name" box is checked. Click the OK
button. We will use the following citation as an example: Structural Motifs and Stability of Small Argon-Nitrogen Clusters, Jinasena W. Hewage and Francois G. Amar, J. chem. Phys. 119(17), 9021 (2003). |

| 4. | Check the boxes next to possible versions of the author's name. Remember that there can be variability in how the author's name is cited. |

| 5. | Click on the Get References button. |

| 6. | Click on the Get Analyze/Refine button. |

| 7. | Click on the Refine button |
|
| |
| 8. | Click on the Publication Year button to help limit the possible matches. |
|
| |
| 9. | Enter the year of your publication. |
|
| |
| 10. | Click on the box next to the correct citation for your article. Then click on the Get Related button. |

|
|
| 11. | Click on the Citing References button. |
|
| |
| 12. | The results will show who has cited your work. You can save the information by clicking on the Save As icon. |
|

| 13. | Repeat the process for your next work. |
