| Google Scholar is an index to scholarly literature, including
peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical
reports. |
| Limitations |
| 1. Google Scholar does not cover all scholarly material |
| 2. Google Scholar cannot be limited to peer reviewed journal articles |
| 3. Google Scholar cannot be limited to journal and book holdings of the University of Maine |
| Basic Search |
| 1. Enter terms into the box for basic searching |
| 2. The results will be listed according to a relevancy algorithm |
| Limit by date by clicking Recent Articles link at the top of the results list |

| 3. The default of 5 years can be altered after clicking on Recent Articles |

| 1. To use the Advanced Search boxes click on the link on the right side of the Search button |
| 2. Advanced provides many options for limiting searches such as author and publication |

| 1. Fogler Library partners with Google Scholar to pull up full-text
results on campus. |
| 2. Click on the link for Full-Text @ My Library |

| 3. If Full-Text@ My Library isn't available, click on the link for
Resources @ My Library |

| 4. For Books click on the link for Library Search |

| 5. If University of Maine at Orono is present, click on the link to
access the book in URSUS. This will give you the call number and tell
you if the book is available. |
