What is Google Scholar?
Google Scholar is a free search tool that will connect you to scholarly resources. It cannot be limited to peer reviewed journals.
Connecting to UMaine Online Journals
1. Connect Google Scholar to UMaine online journals through our indexes and databases.
2. If you connect directly to Google Scholar, you will need to connect to add Library Links through the Settings
Go to the button for Library Links on the left hand side Type in University of Maine Click on the box for University of Maine Full Text @ My Library Click on the blue Save button Now begin your Search
3. To open articles click on the Full Text @ My Library link on the right hand side of the article.
Hints for Basic Search
2. The default sort for results is by relevancy. You can change this to years.
3. You can limit years to preset spans or create a custom range using links on the left side of the results screen.
Hints for Advanced Search
1. To use Advanced Search click on the arrow inside the search box.
2. Advanced provides many options for conducting specific searches including author, publication, and year.
