Government Publications

  WHAT does the
  Library have?

  • As a selective depository for Canadian federal publications, Fogler Library acquires more than 90% of all their government publications published in English.  The Library also makes a concerted effort to collect Canadian provincial publications. There are approximately 201,000 publications in this collection, some of which (particularly those from the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia) are not owned by any other library in the United States.
  • From commercial publishers we have also acquired the following microform collections:
    • The Mercury Series and the Bulletin Series of the National Museums of Canada
    • Royal Commission Reports, 1867-1966
    • Interprovincial Conferences, 1867-1976
    • The Treaty Series of the Department of External Affairs, 1928-1980
    • Debates of the House of Commons for the first 14 Parliaments, 1867-1925.
    • Microfilm reels of all available nominal censuses for the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Québec (17th century through 1901).

  WHERE can I
  find them?

  • Most Canadian government publications are housed in the Library's closed stacks. Those on microfilm and microfiche are shelved in the Microforms Area. Many are cataloged in URSUS, although the majority are not included in that database.
