A. FALL LIBRARY WORKSHOP SERIES
The schedule for the Fall Library Workshop series is available at www.library.umaine.edu/newmedia/. This popular series offers workshops in a variety of areas including web authoring, photo editing, desktop publishing, computer mapping, and research tools.
To register or for more information, contact: Gretchen Gfeller E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org, Voice: 207-581-1696.
B. LibX: A TOOLBAR FOR LIBRARY RESOURCES
Fogler Library has developed a plug-in for your web browser called LibX that allows you to search for items in the Library collections from any page, no matter where on the web you may be browsing. With the toolbar in place, keep an eye out for the UMaine shortcut icon when visiting sites like Google Scholar, Amazon.com or the New York Times Book Review. Clicking on the University mini icon will link you back to the Fogler Library web site to see if we have the book or article you are looking for. If the full text is available online that will be indicated, too.
Another great feature for article searching allows you to reload or follow a link via the library proxy, making it appear as though you are coming from an on-campus computer, which facilitates seamless access to licensed articles that require authorization.
For more features and super quick instructions for downloading the plugin visit: <library.umaine.edu/staff/libx_guide.htm>.
