1. SERVICES
A. LIBRARY WEB PAGE FOR FACULTY
Fogler Library maintains a web page expressly for faculty, with links to
internal and external services and information that we hope will be useful. <http://library.umaine.edu/forfaculty.htm>
You'll find news items about the status of any Library project requiring
faculty input, new books on order; and announcements of new databases on trial.
There are interactive Library forms for campus delivery of journal articles and
books, as well as for placing materials on Reserve (both hard-copy and
electronic format) for your courses. Without leaving your office you can request
reference assistance via e-mail and arrange interlibrary loan of a book or
copies of journal articles not held here. Other helpful information includes
faculty liaison librarians for each department, how to schedule bibliographic
instruction sessions for your classes, and examples of course guides created for
these sessions. Did you know that we have reciprocal faculty borrowing
privileges at nearly 200 other university libraries? Click on “Reciprocal
faculty borrowing privileges". Other links you will find there include:
copyright and fair use information; scholarly book reviews from H-NET Reviews;
online directories of faculty at other universities; and contact information for
publishers and suppliers of books (in-print and out-of-print), and
periodicals.
B. LGBT RESOURCE GUIDE
The LGBT Resource Guide <http://www.library.umaine.edu/social/lgbtgd.htm>
lists print Reference sources, databases, and Web sites related to research in
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues. For more information contact
Nancy Lewis at:
nancy.lewis@umit.maine.edu or 581-3613.
C. H1N1 INFLUENZA ("SWINE FLU") GUIDE
This new guide <http://www.library.umaine.edu/science/h1n1.htm>
provides 1-click journal article and library catalog searches for materials
about H1N1 influenza. It also links to H1N1 information from the University of
Maine, state of Maine, the U.S. government, the Canadian government, and other
organizations.
