1.   SERVICES
A. RECOMMENDING A BOOK FOR PURCASE
Each year, Fogler Library purchases approximately 5,000 books on the recommendation of faculty, librarians, and other members of the University community. The library allocates part of its materials budget to subject areas which correspond to the University's academic departments, colleges and/or schools. These funds are intended to be used to acquire materials that fall outside our approval and profiled books plans. Faculty and staff are invited to submit requests for books that address curriculum and research-related needs.

B. MAINE'S SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND BUSINESS RESEARCH LIBRARY
     Fogler Library serves as a resource for meeting the science, technology and business information needs of citizens of the state. 2. NEWS/ANNOUNCEMENTS/EVENTS
A. FRANK WIHBEY RETIREMENT
     Please join us in celebrating the 31+ years University of Maine career of Frank Wihbey, Head of Government Publications, Maps, GIS and Microforms, on Thursday, October 15, 2009, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, at a reception in his honor at the McIntire Room, Buchanan Alumni House, College Avenue, Orono.
