1. ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. FOGLER ON FACEBOOK
Fogler Library is now on Facebook. In addition to an active news feed, you will
find links for interlibrary loan, e-reserves, subject portals, and our popular
"Ask a Librarian" service. <http://www.facebook.com/UMaineLibrary>
2. SERVICES
A. GEOSTATS SPATIAL & NUMERIC DATA GIS SERVICE WORKSTATION
A versatile work station is available for your research involving spatial &
numeric data and geographic information systems (GIS). Located on the first
floor of the Fogler Library, it can be used to create maps color-coded to
correspond to spatial distribution of your chosen data. Faculty may request a
session for their classes to teach a specific application pertinent to their
coursework at:
Additionally, the maps from the Library's collections, or that you provide, can
be vector-scanned with the CalComp Drawing Board large-format digitizer tablet
at the GeoStats work station or raster-scanned on a color scanner in the
Circulation Media Lab, located across from the Oakes Room. A large-format
Hewlett-Packard Designjet color plotter connected to the GeoStats workstation
provides quality output up to three feet wide and of any practical length.
For more information on maps or GIS, contact Greg Curtis at <gregory.curtis@umit.maine.edu>
