1. SERVICES
A. MAINE POLICY REVIEW ON DIGITALCOMMONS@UMAINE
The Maine Policy Review (MPR) has joined the growing number of
publications on DigitalCommons@UMaine. MPR publishes timely,
independent, peer-reviewed analysis of public policy issues relevant
to the state of Maine. The journal is published jointly two times
per year by the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center at the University
of Maine and the Margaret Chase Smith Foundation. It is intended for
a diverse audience, including state policymakers; government,
business, and non-profit leaders; students; and general readers with
a broad interest in public policy. Their digital commons site
includes current issues, archives, and a cover gallery. Direct

2. COLLECTIONS
A. FOUNDATION DIRECTORY ONLINE (FDO)
The University of Maine now has unlimited on-campus and remote
access to the Foundation Directory Online (FDO) Professional
database, via Fogler Library’s page <www.library.umaine.edu/indexesdb/Indexes.asp>.
FDO provides information on U.S. grantmakers and their grants, with
80,000 detailed funder profiles for foundations, corporate giving
programs, and donors; over 359,000 trustee, officer, and donor
names; program details and application guidelines; charts depicting
grant distributions by subject, geographic, and demographic focus;
searching across over 250,000 Form 990 entries; and foundation news,
requests for proposals, publications, and job postings.
B. UPGRADE TO PROQUEST DISSERTATIONS & THESES
Fogler Library has upgraded its subscription to ProQuest
Dissertations & Theses. The database now includes full text of works
from other institutions, in addition to those from the University of
Maine. Access ProQuest Dissertations & Theses at <http://www.library.umaine.edu/indexesdb/Indexes.asp>.
C. FILMS ON DEMAND
Films on Demand is a streaming video platform with educational
content from producers such as the BBC, PBS, CBC, Frontline, the
History Channel, NOVA, National Geographic, and more. It also
includes some interesting archival films and newsreels. Subscription
access is provided by Fogler Library via <www.library.umaine.edu/indexesdb/Indexes.asp>.
