A. New Database: Nature

Many already know that to ask a librarian is to save time and streamline your research. Now, in addition to walking into Fogler Library or calling 581-1673, you can "chat" in real time with a librarian -- from on- and off-campus -- as well as send an email.
The new service, called "Ask-a-Librarian," allows us to provide answers to questions using chat and shared Internet browsers. Visit the library's homepage ( You will see the "Ask-a-Librarian" icons - one for chat and one for email. Librarians from Fogler's Reference and Science & Engineering departments will be available to chat Monday through Friday, from 1:00-5:00 pm.
In addition, if you use Internet Explorer, you benefit by sharing one Web browser screen with the librarian while you chat, i.e. you both will see, and use, one screen. This will be a great help for questions about the many databases Fogler Library provides. Give this new service a try!

The journal Nature is now available online for University of Maine faculty, staff, and students from campus computers or IP connections at Published weekly, Nature is an international journal publishing original, groundbreaking research spanning all of the scientific disciplines.
