A. UMAINE JOINS BIOMED CENTRAL
The University of Maine is now an institutional member of BioMed Central.
Membership has been funded through a grant received by the Maine Biomedical
Research Infrastructure Network (BRIN). For more information about Maine
BRIN see http://www.brinme.net/.
One of the most important advantages of BioMed Central membership is that
our researchers may publish in BioMed Central open-access journals without
article processing charges. Turnaround time for peer review is rapid. For
more information see http://www.biomedcentral.com/inst/46008.
A. DOCUMENT SCANNING SERVICE FOR FACULTY AND STAFF
Fogler Library is now offering Scanning Services for faculty and staff. If
you would like your paper documents converted into .pdf files, or if you
need film, slides, or photos scanned, we can help. For faculty who are
already using our journal article retrieval service, we can scan those
articles for you and send them to you as a pdf file, saving you a lot of
time. For further information and pricing, visit our website listed below,
or contact Chris Tuthill. Email: Christopher.Tuthill@umit.maine.edu, Phone:
207-581-1674. Web page: http://www.library.umaine.edu/ill/scanning.htm
B. LIBRARY LINKS IN BLACKBOARD AND WEBCT
Do you use Blackboard or WebCT for your courses? Have you considered the
benefits of adding library links directly to your course pages? Fogler's
subject specialists are available to help you find the best links to include
in your site(s). Adding library links to your course template will provide
students with direct access to the research tools they need.
