A. VENDACARD SERVICE SERVICE TO BE DISCONTINUED
As of May 17 the Library will no longer convert copies from the former photocopy cards (VendaCards) to funds on MaineCards or Copy MaineCards. VendaCards were in use prior to the fall semester of 2000. Please bring any old cards to the Library Business Office Monday Friday 8:00-4:30 to have the copies transferred.
B. BORROWING BOOKS FROM MAINE LIBRARIES
URSUS is the online catalog of the University of Maine System libraries, it includes the campus libraries and their branches, the Maine State Library, the Maine Law and Legislative Library, and the Bangor Public Library. One of the features of URSUS is the request function, WHICH allows you to borrow available books from the other URSUS libraries. At the catalog entry for the item you want click on Request and enter your name and barcode number. Using the pull down menu choose a pick-up location and submit the information. If there is more than one available copy select the copy you want.
MaineInfoNet is the online catalog for the state, it is still growing and currently the following libraries are able to lend: Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, Maine Maritime Academy, Maine College of Art, Portland Public Library, and the University of New England. This catalog also allows online requesting. If there is no copy of the book in URSUS click on the Search InfoNet button, a search for the title will be duplicated in the MaineInfoNet catalog. Use the Request This Item button, at the prompt for institution affiliation use the pull down menu to select URSUS and click Submit. Enter your name and barcode, select your pick-up location from the pull down menu and submit that information. If an URSUS library owns the title the request will be denied.
Books from the URSUS and MaineInfoNet libraries are loaned for 4 weeks only and are subject to fines and replacement charges.
