1. DATABASES
A. PSYCARTICLES NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
The PsycARTICLES database is now available online through the Fogler Library
website. It is searchable at
library.umaine.edu/indexesdb/dbdetails.asp?field=Name&search=PsycARTICLES.
PsycARTICLES contains full-text articles from 53 psychology journals published
by the American Psychological Association, the APA Educational Publishing
Foundation, the Canadian Psychological Association, and Hogrefe & Huber. The
database includes all material from the print journals with the exception of ads
and editorial board lists. For more information contact Cynthia Crosser Email:
cynthia.crosser@umit.maine.edu or Phone: 581-3612.
B. PSYCCRITIQUE REPLACES CONTEMPORARY PSYCHOLOGY
PsycCRITIQUE has replaced the journal Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of
Books. The new version is available via URSUS in an online searchable format.
It contains full text reviews of current books and includes comparative reviews.
The searchable format allows users to access reviews from 1995 to the present.
It can be accessed at [
http://130.111.64.3/search/t?SEARCH=PsycCRITIQUES &sortdropdown=-&searchscope=1
C. BIOONE: FULL-TEXT DATABASE OF 72 JOURNALS
Fogler Library now subscribes to BioOne, a searchable, full-text database of 72
journals covering a broad range of the biological sciences focusing on biology,
botany, entomology, and zoology. Most of the journals are published by the
American Institute of Biological Sciences, with coverage mostly from 2000 to
present. Examples include: Annals of the Entomological Society of America, The
Auk, BioScience, Journal of Crustacean Biology, Journal of Mammalogy, and Weed
Science. The journals are searchable by title, abstract, full-text, references,
and author.
BioOne provides alerts so you can be notified when new issues of journals are
made available. BioOne is available from Fogler Library’s "Search in a
Database" page at: http://library.umaine.edu/indexesdb/Indexes.asp
Access to individual journals is also available through
URSUS and
Ejournals@UMaine .
3. LIBRARY ONLINE GUIDES
A. NEW GUIDE FOR IDENTIFYING CITING REFERENCES
Who is citing your work? Ever wondered who has cited your papers and other
scholarly works in their own research articles? Cynthia Crosser has created a
guide to identifying citing references using five major tools: Web of Science,
JSTOR, SciFinder Scholar, MathSciNet, and Google Scholar. It may be found at
www.library.umaine.edu/general/cited_your_article.htm. Please contact Cynthia
Crosser (Reference, 581-3612) or Jim Bird (Science & Engineering, 581-1697) if
you have questions about citation searching.
