1.  PEOPLE
 A. FOGLER LIBRARY FRIENDS
"Fogler Library Friends" is a group of Library supporters who work to develop strategies to raise awareness of library resources and services.  Friends members include students, faculty, and staff from UMaine as well as member of the larger Maine community. This type of private support is critical as Fogler Library strives to maintain its leadership position in teaching, research, and public service.

The Friends sponsor a variety of events and programming.  One example is last week’s very successful Tapas Bar.  Upcoming programming includes, “Atypical Bodies: an exploration of disability writing and culture” on Feb.22, an International Buffet (co-sponsored with SHAC) on Feb 26, Maureen Elgersman Lee, author of “Black Bangor” on 23 March (co-sponsored by WIC and Multicultural Programs), popular Maine author Van Reid on 11 April, awarding winning poet Wes McNair on 20 April, and the Edith Patch Cookbook Dinner on 23 April. More information about Friends events is posted at: http://www.library.umaine.edu/friends/events.htm
