Index to over 14 million journal article and conference proceeding abstracts
across 190 engineering disciplines and from over 65 countries; updated weekly.
Use their subject headings to obtain more precise results. Access is provided
by the following indexes: author, author's affiliation (university or company),
keywords from the abstract and title, subject terms and source title (journal
or conference title). Compendex is part of the Engineering Village platform.

SciFinder Scholar. SciFinder Scholar is the expanded electronic version
of Chemical Abstracts, covering literature (including patents) from the
mid-1800s to present, plus additional databases listing chemical substances
and reactions. Covers literature (including patents) on all branches of
chemistry, as well as related fields. Search options include keyword, CAS
Registry number, chemical structure, chemical reaction, and more. University
of Maine (Orono) also has access to the the SciFinder Substructure Module
(SSM), which permits searching a chemical substance database for
substitutions, variations in ring structure, and R groups, as well as the
option to search by stereochemistry.

Academic Search Complete.
Academic Search Complete is a large scholarly, multi-disciplinary, full-text
database, with more than 7,400 full-text periodicals, including more than
6,300 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers
indexing and abstracts for more than 11,500 scholarly, popular, trade, and
special interest serials, and a total of more than 12,000 publications
including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, and more. Updated
daily.

Business Source Complete.
Business Source Complete indexes and abstracts more than 4,800 scholarly,
trade, popular, and special interest serials in the fields of business and
industry. More than half of the publications are peer- reviewed, and
approximately 3,700 provide full text. Additional full-text, non-journal
content includes financial data, books, monographs, major reference works,
conference proceedings, case studies, investment research reports, industry
reports, market research reports, country reports, company profiles, SWOT
analyses, faculty seminars (videos), and more. Updated daily.

CAB Direct. CAB Direct covers research and development literature in the
fields of agriculture, forestry, human health, human nutrition, animal
health and the management and conservation of natural resources. Can be
searched by author, title, abstract word, and CAB descriptor. Indexes
journals as well as books, reports, and conference proceedings. Updated
weekly.
- Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
Provides full-text articles from over 1145 free peer-reviewed journals covering
all scholarly and scientific subjects. Over 310 journals can be searched by
article title. Most articles are in English. Records for articles in foreign
languages have English abstracts.
- Electronic Journals: Full Text.
Searchable database of journals and journal articles available through EBSCO
Subscription Services, including access to many full text articles. In
ARTICLESearch, articles can be searched by keyword in title, abstract or full
text. JOURNALSearch provides access at the journal title level, and can be
searched by keyword, ISSN, or publisher. Journal table of contents may also be
browsed. Links to the full text of articles are available for e-journals to
which Fogler Library subscribes, or when the article appears in a sample issue.

Environment Complete. Environment Complete offers deep coverage in
applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, renewable energy
sources, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography,
pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law,
public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more. The database
contains full text for more than 400 journals, including many of the
most-used journals in the discipline, such as Environment (back to 1975),
Ecologist, Conservation Biology, etc. It also has full text for more than
100 monographs, such as Encyclopedia of World Environmental History (3
volumes), Advances in Water Treatment & Environmental Management, and more.

Scholar. Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for
scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines
and sources: articles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions, from
academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories,
universities and other web sites. Google Scholar helps you find relevant
work across the world of scholarly research. Personal iGoogle Scholar
configurations may not be available when accessing library licensed
resources. Access to library licensed resources may require logging out of
personal iGoogle account.
- ScienceDirect.
ScienceDirect is a full-text collection of journals on science, technology, and
medicine published by Elsevier. The University of Maine System Libraries have
access to Complete and the Freedom Collection, which together comprise more than
1,800 journals, most with backfiles from 1995 to present. There are some
ScienceDirect journal titles to which University users do not have access.

comprehensive science-specific search engine on the Internet. Indexes
journals, conferences, technical reports, and more. Not a full-text
database.

present), Social Sciences Citation Index® (1956-present), and Arts &
Humanities Citation Index™ (1975-present). Covers current and retrospective
multidisciplinary information from approximately 8,500 of the most

reference searching, with which users can navigate forward, backward, and
through the literature, searching all disciplines to uncover information
relevant to their research.

American Chemical Society Publications. Provides full-text access to 120 years of chemistry research published in American Chemical Society journals from 1879. The database access is rolling in nature; that is, every year, a new year's worth of content will be added. Access to the Archives includes articles from the year of first issue for all journals up to five years ago. Also provides access to the monographs in the ACS Symposium Series from 2010 to present.

- RISI. Contains a wide variety of information on companies, mills, news,
technology, careers, etc. Also contains dictionary, encyclopedia

Classical Methods that have been published by the Technical Association of the Pulp and
Paper Industry. Published annually.
Patents are a valuable source of information on processes and products in the chemical
industry. Fogler Library is the home of the only Patent
and Trademark Resource Center in Maine. Services offered include the full-text of
United States patents, 1974-present, and free instruction on how to do a patent search on
a topic of interest. If you need to locate a copy of a specific patent, refer
to the Fogler Library Guide, "Locating Copies of
Patents. "
- Digital
Dissertations. Indexes
dissertations and theses written by graduates of North American and European
universities. The complete text of dissertations written at the University of
Maine after 1996 is included.

Chemical Data Access Tool (CDAT). Use CDAT to find health and safety
information submitted to EPA under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA),
including a broad range of health and safety information reported by
industry under TSCA Sections 4,5, 8(d), and 8(e), unpublished,
nonconfidential studies covering chemical testing results and adverse
effects of chemicals on health and ecological systems, health and
environmental effects information obtained through the High Production
Volume (HPV) Challenge, and recently declassified confidential business
information.

records for energy and energy-related scientific and technical reports and
papers sponsored by the Department of Energy (DOE) and its predecessor
