Science & Engineering Center: Services

Reference Questions

Staff are available to answer questions in person, by telephone, or via e-mail.  Center librarians are also available by appointment for in-depth consultation.
Instructional Workshops

Librarians work with instructors to design effective classes in library research methods. Depending on the need and subject area, these classes can be designed to prepare students for a particular assignment or to provide a general introduction to research in the sciences. Print material, URSUS and electronic resources are standard topics. In addition, classes are scheduled throughout the semester to train students and faculty in database searching and locating Internet resources.
Selecting Materials

Librarians select materials according to their areas of expertise but also rely on input from students, faculty, and staff. If you wish to recommend a title for purchase stop by the Science Center, call us at 1-1691 or fill out the book selection form.

Database Searching

The Science & Engineering Center has access to many online databases in all fields of engineering, medicine and the natural and physical sciences. Staff will show you how to use in-house resources or search online databases.
