Biography

Roger F. Duncan is the author of many books about sailing and maritime history including Coastal Maine: A Maritime History, A Cruising Guide to the New England Coast, Dorothy Elizabeth: Building a Traditional Wooden Schooner, Ashore and Afloat and The Reluctant Patriot. He was born in 1916 and earned his B.A. degree in English from Harvard College in 1938. He is a former teacher and headmaster and lives in East Boothbay, Maine.

Scope and Content Note

The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, page proofs, lecture notes and other materials for Duncan’s books Coastal Maine: A Maritime History and various editions of his A Cruising Guide to the New England Coast.
