Biography

Mervin F. Roberts, a resident of Old Lyme, Connecticut, was born in New York City in 1922. He received a B.S. degree from Alfred University in 1947. He has served as a consultant on various aquaculture projects in Maine, including with Nordic Enterprises Incorporated, Greenwich, Connecticut, a company interested in raising salmon in pens off Maine’s coast. Roberts also served as a consultant to Northeast Utilities on the behavior of fish near power plants, was chair of the Connecticut Governor’s Council on Marine Resources from 1969 to 1972, chair of the Connecticut Shellfish Commission and president of the Connecticut Association of Conservation Commissions and Wetland Agencies. He is the author or co-author of over 30 publications on tidemarsh life, fish, reptiles and birds.

Scope and Content Note

The collection contains Roberts’ files on various aspects of aquaculture as well as on projects to which he was a consultant. The folders are arranged alphabetically by their headings as Roberts maintained them.
