Richard Hollinger, Head, Special Collections Dept., joined the staff in August 2000. Prior to his arrival, his most recent position was Curator of Manuscripts at the New Jersey Historical Society. He has earned a B.A. and M.A. in History, an M.A. in Public History and Historic Preservation, and is in the process of completing a Ph.D. in Archival Science at the University of Amsterdam.
Desiree Butterfield-Nagy, Archivist / Librarian, has been in with the Special Collections Department since 2009. She has a B.S. from Utah State University, an M.A. from Northern Arizona University, and a Masters of Library and Information Science with a concentration in Archives & Preservation from the University of South Carolina.
Bonnie Garceau, Library Specialist, has been with the Special Collections Department since 2011. She has worked for a variety of departments in Fogler Library since 1994.
Matthew Revitt, Special Collections and Maine Shared Collections Librarian, joined the staff as the Program Manager for the Maine Shared Collections Strategy IMLS grant. He now splits his time between continued work on Maine Shared Collections Cooperative and working with university related records for Special Collections. Matthew has worked as an independent records & information management consultant in Maine. Before coming to the United States, Matthew worked in the United Kingdom as a records manager in local government authorities including Staffordshire County Council, having earned an MSc Econ in Record Management at the University of Aberystwyth.
Beth Russell, Archivist / Librarian, joined the Fogler Library staff in 2014. She had previously served as an archivist at Michigan Technological University Archives and Copper Country Historical Collections in Houghton, Michigan and collections cataloger for Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut. Beth holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and art history from Providence College and a Master of Library and Information Studies with a concentration in special collections, manuscripts, and archives from the University of Rhode Island.
Elaine Smith, Library Specialist, joined the staff in 2001. She was previously the supervisor of the Helen S. Dunn Elementary school library in Olamon. She earned her B.A. from the University of Maine.
