Special Collections Theses and Dissertations

University of Maine Theses and Dissertations are located in the Special Collections Department of Fogler Library and can be viewed in the Department. Some UM theses and dissertations may be found online in full-text format in the ETD database.

Theses and dissertations written after 1986 are cataloged in URSUS. Records for those written before that date are in the card catalog located in Special Collections. Records for doctoral dissertations from 1873 to present are also found in UMI's Digital Dissertations database (access restricted to University of Maine faculty, staff, and students).

Copies of University of Maine masters theses can be borrowed through Interlibrary Loan, for in-library use at the borrowing library. Copies may also be purchased from the Special Collections Department at the cost of 15 cents per page, plus $2.50 for shipping/handling. 

Copies of University of Maine doctoral dissertations are not loaned through Interlibrary Loan. They must be purchased from UMI. See information about how to order by phone or online at UMI's Online Dissertation Services.
