UMaine Libraries adds Project MUSE Evidence-Based Acquisitions (EBA) E-books for Fiscal Year 2027

The University of Maine has expanded access to scholarly e-book content through a new Project MUSE Evidence-Based Acquisitions (EBA) program. This collection includes frontlist e-books published from 2021 to the present and is available to all University of Maine System Libraries users.

The EBA program provides access to more than 83,000 eligible titles from over 200 distinguished scholarly publishers, including many university presses. New titles will continue to be added as they are published.

All e-books in the collection offer fully downloadable content with no restrictions, support unlimited simultaneous users, and allow full-book or chapter-level PDF downloads. The collection is particularly strong in the humanities and social sciences.

This new acquisition expands the University of Maine’s existing Project MUSE access beyond journals to include a substantial collection of scholarly books.

Books can be accessed through Project MUSE.

Special Collections and Projects celebrates the Collins Center for the Arts’ 40th anniversary



On May 27, University Archivist Matthew Revitt exhibited items from the University Archive at a reception celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Collins Center for the Arts. Among the items displayed were a program from the opening concert, which featured performances from Yo-Yo Ma and Isaac Stern, and photographs from the groundbreaking of the Maine Center for the Arts (as it was formerly known).  

Fogler Library represented at UMaine Retiree Homecoming

This past Thursday, June 4, Fogler Library staff members Matthew Revitt and Rosie Seaber tabled at the UMaine Retiree Homecoming to promote access to library resources retirees can still enjoy and offer Fogler branded swag to attendees.

Retiree access to library resources is based upon emeriti faculty status or Gold Card eligibility. Semester borrowing privileges are granted for General Collection items. If Circulation staff can verify eligibility requirements are met, a MaineCard will suffice, but a Gold Card is proof of eligibility and makes the process easier. Fogler staff will work with emeriti faculty status or Gold Card to set-up an account for book borrowing and off-campus access to licensed electronic resources (MaineStreet credentials will no longer work).

Retirees who do not meet the minimum requirements for a Gold Card can no longer retain borrowing privileges. However, the Maine Reciprocal Borrowing Program allows library patrons of these participating libraries to use their library cards to check out books in Fogler. 

Access to UMaine licensed electronic library resources is available on dedicated terminals inside of Fogler Library. There are also many digital materials that can be accessed on Digital Commons.
