Salon event coming in May: Artificial Intelligence in Business: Disruption, Opportunity, or Both?

Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way we live and work — and business is at the center of the storm. From automation and data analysis to marketing and customer service, AI tools are evolving faster than many companies can keep up. So what does this mean for the future of business?

Is AI a powerful tool for innovation and growth? Or a disruptive force with serious risks? Or both?

Join UMaine Libraries in person or via Zoom on Monday, May 12 at 5 p.m. for a dynamic Salon Series panel discussion that will explore the many sides of AI in the business world. Learn how organizations are already integrating AI, what ethical concerns are emerging, and how small businesses and entrepreneurs can navigate this rapidly changing landscape.

Garden with Fogler!

As part of this year’s Maine Day of Service, we will be tidying up the gardens around Fogler and planting some new shrubs. We would love for you to join us! We’ll be out near the East Entrance of the library (across from the Memorial Union) from 8–11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30.

Tools will be provided by Facilities Management, so no need to bring your own. Please email Rosie Seaber <rosie.seaber@maine.edu> with any questions.

New from Special Collections and Projects: Student Heritage Alliance Council

The Special Collections and Projects Department in Fogler Library has added new records from the Student Heritage Alliance Council (SHAC) to the online archival content management tool ArchivesSpace. The records include copies of the SHAC constitution, bylaws, and mission statements. There are also SHAC meeting agendas and minutes; funding requests; reports; and promotional material, including event posters, fliers, and newsletters.

The records also contain posters; photographs; constitutions and bylaws; reports; and meeting material from some of the different multicultural and multi-faith organizations on campus for which SHAC has been an umbrella group. These include the African Student Association; American Indian Student Organization; Asian Student Association, Black Student Union; Capoeira Club; Caribbean Club; Hillel; Muslim Student Association; and Saudi Arabian Students Organization.
