SUMMARY:Film: The Anthropologist
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Human Dimensions of Climate Change Film Series\, a screening of The Anthropologist will take place in the Fogler Library Classroom on April 4. \nThe screening will also include a discussion led by Dr. Christine Beitl\, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Maine. \nIn The Anthropologist\, the fate of the planet is considered from the perspective of American teenager Katie Crate. Over the course of five years\, she travels alongside her mother Susie\, an anthropologist studying the impact of climate change on indigenous communities. Their journey parallels that of renowned anthropologist Margaret Mead\, who for decades sought to understand how global change affects remote cultures (film description from Ironbound Films website). \nThe Human Dimensions of Climate Change Film Series is sponsored by the Department of Anthropology\, the Climate Change Institute\, and Fogler Library. Other showings include the Years of Living Dangerously episode “Ice & Brimstone” on March 28th and Climate Refugees on April 11th. \nIf you’re interested in learning more about the film series\, or you want to watch some of the films online\, visit our online guide for the Human Dimensions of Climate Change Film Series.
