1. New Platform for Maine InfoNet Download Library

On March 1, 2017, the Maine InfoNet Download Library will be launching a new e-book and e-Audiobook collection platform. The current system, Overdrive, will be turned off on February 28, 2017, and the cloudLibrary will be launched the very next day, March 1, 2017.

This transition will offer UMaine readers a bigger selection of e-books and e-Audiobooks, including many of the digital titles that are already in our collection.

Please note that current holds within Overdrive will not be recreated in the cloudLibrary platform, and e-books and e-Audiobooks checked out via Overdrive will expire as of March 1. More information about the transition is available on Maine InfoNet’s website.

For assistance with the Maine InfoNet Download Library, please contact the Fogler Library Help Desk.

2. Underrepresented Voices Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Time & Date: February 8th, 6-9pm
Location: Library Classroom

Fogler Library will host a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, which will serve as an opportunity for students to learn the best practices of editing Wikipedia articles. The event will focus on increasing contributions and topics on Wikipedia from underrepresented groups such as women in STEM, black artists, activists of color, and the LGBTQ community. Students are also encouraged to bring their own ideas for topics.

No prior experience editing Wikipedia is necessary. Please share this event with students and colleagues in your department.
