1. The Scholar’s Trademark: build a brand that gets you hired, promoted, and tenured
Date & Time: Thursday, April 25, 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Fogler Library and Dr. Nick Mitchell from Clarivate Analytics will present a series of discussions focused on scholarly communication, bibliometrics, publishing, and more for faculty and graduate students. The following workshops will be part of the event:

  • Session 1 | 1:00 – 2:00 pm
    Make it easy for a stranger to find your research publications
  • Session 2 | 2:15 – 3:15 pm
    What metrics do hiring and promotion committees use to gauge “scholarship quality”?
  • Session 3 | 3:30 – 4:30 pm
    Where and what should I publish to grow my research brand?

About the Presenter
Nick Mitchell, PhD. is a Solutions Consultant for Clarivate Analytics, the world’s foremost provider of research information and analytics. Prior to joining Clarivate in 2017, Nick held teaching and research appointments at Gettysburg College, St. Bonaventure University, and the National Institute on Aging.

2. Highlight Your Summer Research at Fogler Library 
Are you doing research this summer? Going out in the field? Presenting at a conference? Partnering with a local community program?

This summer, Fogler library will feature a display called “Where in the World are UMaine Black Bears?” that will highlight the interesting research and activities our faculty and staff do over the summer months. This display will help visitors and members of the UMaine community learn more about the amazing research, programs, and creative endeavors that happen here and around the world.

In addition to the display, UMaine’s Division of Marketing and Communications would like to feature photos/videos from your summer research that highlight some of the unique experiences of the UMaine community. Near the end of the semester, we will send an email with additional details about submitting photos/videos to the Division of Marketing and Communications.
