Open Access Publishing

Fogler Library has updated our guide to Open Access publishing, adding a section on library-supported publishing agreements. While there are only a few library-supported agreements, we want faculty, staff, and students to be aware of these potential places to publish open access research without the need to pay additional article processing charges. For questions about open access, please contact librarian Jen Bonnet.

Featured Resource: New York Times Access Pass

Fogler Library is pleased to announce that the New York Times Access Pass is now available to all UMaine students, staff, and faculty at Orono and Machias. Go to accessnyt.com to activate your access. See a video on the activation process. Once registered, you may use your account logon with a browser or a mobile app to access the New York Times from any location.

Access includes news articles from 1851 to present; multimedia; podcasts and newsletters; an education site; and Spanish and Mandarin Chinese versions. This trial subscription for 2023 is being supported by gift funds; renewal in future years depends on the availability of regular acquisition funding. For questions, please contact Research & Instruction at (207) 581-1673 or through the Ask a Librarian service.
