Love Data Week includes presentation on Sewall Collection

UMaine’s Advanced Research, Computing, Security and Information Management (ARCSIM) is hosting a series of workshops and events in recognition of Love Data Week in-person at Fogler Library February 12-16, 2024. As part of the week-long program, Library Specialist Paul Smitherman will conduct an introductory hybrid session on “The Sewall Company Aerial Photographs Collection at UMaine Special Collections” on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, 1-2pm. This session will include some of the current applications of the imagery, including the current status of efforts to digitize the photographs and make them available. In October 2019, UMaine Special Collections received over 3,000 rolls of historical aerial photography dating from 1948 through 2015 of Maine and the surrounding New England area. An overview of data and other technical considerations will be presented.
