The University of Maine System Libraries are changing how the library catalog looks and how you will search for resources in summer 2024.

The new system will:

• Feature an enhanced user interface to replace the current Summon (OneSearch) discovery platform and Classic Catalog (URSUS), and
• Be called LibrarySearch (to replace OneSearch)

The launch date is expected to be mid-June 2024.

Tea at the Salon with the Dean & PTRC

This year, our Tea featured Business and Economics Librarian John Hutchinson, who serves as Representative of Maine’s only Patent and Trademark Resource Center, based in Fogler Library. Hutchinson discussed PTRC services and promoted his upcoming April 12, 2024 patent searching workshops, to be held as part of Maine Impact Week.

Salon Recording – From Surviving to Thriving: Ensuring that we Support the Whole International Student

If you missed this recent salon, please listen as Dr. Rajika Bhandari, author of the award-winning memoir America Calling: A Foreign Student in a Country of Possibility, shares her extensive experience as an international higher education expert and her personal and professional insights on attracting international students; serving and aligning their needs with campus diversity and inclusion efforts; and positioning them for success. International students expressed vital concerns at this event, moderated by Orlina Boteva, Director of the Office of International Programs, and Dr. Karen Pelletreau, CITL Director of Faculty Educational Development.

Fogler Library Research Impact Challenge

The Fogler Library Research Impact Challenge will run again from April 8-12, 2024 to coincide with Maine Impact Week. This weeklong program of daily emails includes activities to help researchers better understand and manage their online scholarly presence, as well as consider ways to describe the impact and reach of their work. While you will receive a daily activity, each activity stands alone and can be completed separately from the others and at a time that is convenient for you. The first few focus on developing or enhancing your online scholarly presence, and the final challenge considers ways to measure the success and impact of your work.
