Persistent Links Update Instructions for BrightSpace

We are excited to announce the first significant update to the University of Maine System Libraries (UMSL) catalog and search experience since 1988, set to debut in mid–June 2024. This will modernize how you interact with library resources, offering a more intuitive and efficient platform for discovering information.

Before June 7, 2024, all Library patrons should review these action items related to their library accounts’ saved searches and history. Faculty should also preview these action items to learn how this will impact their persistent links on BrightSpace or other Course Management Systems.

Fogler Library Receives Appreciation Award

On Saturday, March 2, 2024, Fogler Library opened its doors for extended hours to host the Western Winter Carnival, welcoming 550 students for this lively and fun event developed by the Center for Student Involvement. Calf petting, mechanical bull, lassoing, contra dancing, hobby horse racing — The Center for Student Involvement had it all! For our participation (displays, logistics, and on-site support that evening), Fogler received a University of Maine Appreciation Award for hosting Student Life’s “Program of the Year.” Here are some pics of the event!

Artstor’s move to JSTOR: Everything you need to know before August 1, 2024

Artstor is now available in its new home on JSTOR! When you search JSTOR, you will find Artstor’s 2+ million licensed images and more than 1,700 additional primary source collections alongside JSTOR’s vast collection of books, journal articles, and research reports. And, with JSTOR’s unique Workspace tool, you can easily save, organize, and teach with Arstor images alongside other JSTOR content in one convenient workflow. If you have saved images or folders in Artstor for personal or course use, check out how to handle these by reviewing Your Artstor Image Groups on JSTOR.

On August 1, 2024, the legacy Artstor website will be retired. If you use Artstor, you’re invited to get started on JSTOR now — check out the Artstor on JSTOR welcome page for everything you need to make your move. If you’ve never used Artstor before, now is a great time to try it out. Visit the Artstor on JSTOR LibGuide, or jump right in with an image search.
