ID Cards and Barcode Numbers
ID Cards / Barcode Number
Fogler Library accepts several types of ID cards or library cards. All ID barcodes must be linked to a valid record in our database prior to requesting (via LibrarySearch or MaineCat catalogs) or borrowing materials. Fogler Library cardholders are also entitled to check-out materials at Maine Libraries Reciprocal Borrowing Program locations—please verify your Fogler library account is in good standing before attempting to do this.
Mobile MaineCard (IOS and Android)
UMaine students, faculty, and staff are able to use a configured smartphone to borrow materials at a Fogler Library check-out desk by simply placing their device near a TransAct system sensor. Mobile MaineCard patrons who need to display their 14-digit barcode number to request materials, view their account, or borrow materials at participating libraries can open their phone and tap the following:

* Access to Fogler collections and licensed resources is vetted through UMaine Human Resources. Contact Circulation (um.library.circ@maine.edu or 207.581.1666) to determine if you have a valid library record. Depending on your status, a record will be created, updated, or your department chair will need to apply for access on your behalf (by contacting their Human Resources Partner). Borrowing requires a MaineCard (coordinate with your department to obtain one). If access to online licensed resources only is required, we will provide a barcode number to vetted faculty upon request.
