Collection overview

The primary purpose of the Raymond H. Fogler Library collections is to support the curriculum and research needs of University of Maine students, staff, and faculty. The collections include an excellent selection of monographs, journals, databases, maps, and media supporting undergraduate and graduate studies and faculty research. The library also has a number of specialized collections, including Maine-related books, records, and manuscripts; the University of Maine archives; a nationally recognized Canadiana collection; and a growing Digital Commons@UMaine repository highlighting unique University of Maine resources in electronic format.

Fogler Library is a Patent and Trademark Resource Center; the northern New England Regional (complete) United States Government Documents Depository since 1963; an official depository for Canadian federal and Maine state government publications; and the designated State Research Library for Business, Science, and Technology.

Merrill Library serves the University of Maine at Machias campus.

These statistics were updated June 2024 with data drawn from the combined response from Fogler and Merrill libraries to the latest ACRL (Association of College & Research Libraries) survey for FY23. The statistics listed here will be updated again in spring 2025.
