1. New Website for Fogler Library
Over the winter break, Fogler Library launched a new version of its website. The new website offers a number of improved features including a mobile-responsive design, new library chat interface, and increased control over our web content.
While all of the databases and resources are still available, you may find some bookmarks have changed. If you have any questions about navigating the new site or locating resources, please contact your library subject specialist.
If you’d like to provide feedback about the new website, please don’t hesitate to submit those ideas through our feedback form on the library homepage.
2. Introduction to Microsoft Excel Workshop
Time & Date: January 26th, 6-8pm
Location: Library Classroom
This workshop will provide attendees with an introduction to Excel. This introduction will cover the Excel interface, how to interpret data and make basic tables and figures, and how to manipulate large amounts of data using pivot tables.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to utilize frequently used tools in Microsoft Excel.
About the Presenter: Shuling Chen is an M.S. Candidate in Marine Policy. Her research focuses on measuring the impact of temporary pollution closures on soft-shell clam fisheries.
3. 2016 UMaine Faculty Books
Throughout the month of January, Fogler Library is showcasing books that were published by UMaine faculty in 2016. Authors come from fields as diverse as Biology, Business, Clinical Psychology, Communication and Journalism, Cooperative Extension, English Literature, Engineering, Francophone Literature, Nursing, Political Science, Social Work, and Sociology.

4. Call for Presenters: Fogler Library Workshop Series Spring 2017
The Fogler Library Workshop Series, which draws on speakers from the UMaine community who can present on diverse topics and expose students to new ideas and ways of thinking about information, is looking for graduate students who would like to develop and teach workshops this spring.
- Potential topics include:
- Computer Programming
- CAD (Computer Aided Design) Programs
- Financial Management
- Microsoft Publisher
- GIS Software and Programming
- Microsoft Office
- Computer Music
- Advanced R for Statistics
