Featured Resource: URSUS Libraries Proxy Bookmarklet
The URSUS Libraries Proxy Bookmarklet allows the patron to quickly and easily access restricted journal articles and ebooks discovered on a publisher’s website while conducting research on the open internet. When the patron is prompted for a login, or hits a paywall, the proxy bookmarklet will reload the page through the University’s proxy server and return them back to your journal site as an authenticated user, assuming your campus library has access to that particular resource.
1. Edna St. Vincent Millay Letters on DigitalCommons
A small collection of Edna St. Vincent Millay letters is now available in DigitalCommons@UMaine. The letters, donated by her friend Gladys Niles of Bangor, emphasize her excitement as she begins to succeed as a published poet. One of the letters identifies several of her early influences. Each file provides images of the original letter and a line-by-line transcription.
2. Undergraduate Research Drop-ins at Fogler Library
This semester, Fogler Library will host a series of Research Drop-ins designed for undergraduates. Students can stop in any time during our Research Drop-Ins to speak with a librarian. Each session has a theme, but students can bring any research questions to the session.
Please share the following schedule of Research Drop-ins with any students who may benefit from attending.
Spring 2020 Research Drop-ins
- January 21: Find out about the Library
- February 4 & February 18: Find the Information You Need
- March 3 & March 24: Finding Peer Reviewed Articles
- April 7 & April 21: Citing Sources
Each session will take place from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm in Library Classroom 2.
3. Hot Topics: Refugees and Asylum Seekers
The Reference and Information Literacy Department at Fogler Library has published a new Hot Topics guide. Hot Topics: Refugees and Asylum Seekers includes background information, statistics, news, and additional resources related to refugees in Maine and the United States.
Please share this guide with any students or colleagues who are researching the topic.
4. Change to Academic Video Online Links
Updates to the URSUS records for the Academic Video Online database were recently completed. As a result, links to the previous records may no longer be valid.
As soon as possible, please review any streaming video links you might have recorded in Blackboard or your syllabi in case those links need to be updated. If you need assistance locating a resource, please contact your subject specialist at Fogler Library.
