Featured Resource: Standard and Poor’s NetAdvantage 

Standard and Poor’s NetAdvantage provides a broad spectrum of industry, company and investment analysis including Industry Surveys, and Equity Research (formerly Stock Reports). Industry data sets include key ratios, benchmarks, constituents, financial metrics, etc. by sub-industry or geography (see Markets tab). Company data covers a global universe of over 3 million private and public companies.

1. Using Subject Guides for Research Papers and Projects

Fogler Library’s Subject Guides can be a helpful starting point for your students as they complete research papers and projects. Created by our reference librarians, subject guides collect useful databases, journals, and resources across 45 subject areas. Subject guides may help your students save time and get better results from their research.

If certain research topics are not covered by a subject guide, your subject specialist can help you locate relevant information resources.

2. University of Maine COVID-19 Community Archive Project

Raymond H. Fogler’s Special Collections Department has established the University of Maine COVID-19 Community Archive Project. The goal of this project is to create a community archive that will preserve the story of this unprecedented time in our community.

To create this archive, Fogler Library hopes members of the UMaine community will document their experiences and submit those materials to its Special Collections department. Materials could include departmental emails and publications, photographs, personal reflections, social media posts, and updated course syllabi. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are also encouraged to submit personal journals, blogs, social media posts, and any other materials that capture the day-to-day experience of this time.

Materials can be submitted via an online form or by email to matthew.revitt@maine.edu

3. Electronic Reserve Materials for Your Courses

If you need electronic resources for courses you’re teaching this spring or in the summer, our staff can provide quick turnaround of materials you want to place on electronic reserve.

Electronic reserves software provides 24/7 access to your online course materials while protecting intellectual property and copyrighted materials. Additionally, eReserves are listed in the URSUS catalog, allowing students to find and connect to resources quickly.

If you would like to place items on electronic reserve, please contact our Circulation Department at um.library.circ@maine.edu.

4. Get Books Mailed to Your Office or Home

Print books in Fogler Library’s collection are available to faculty, staff, and students at the University of Maine and the University of Maine at Machias. Books will be mailed to your current address via USPS or campus mail.

To request a print book:

  1. Send your request via email to um.library.circ@maine.edu
  2. Provide the title, author, call number for each requested item. Tip: Copy and paste this information from the catalog.
  3. Provide your current mailing address.
  4. Include the 14-digit barcode number
    • UMaine patrons: submit the 14-digit barcode located directly beneath your MaineCard barcode.
    • Machias patrons: submit the 14-digit barcode number (beginning with 2) on your ClipperCard.
