Featured Resource: Guide to Altmetrics

Altmetrics is the use of alternative, or nontraditional, measurements to better understand the extent of a work’s scholarly impact. Altmetrics serve as a complement to traditional metrics (e.g., citation counts) by incorporating statistics regarding usage, capture, and mentions of scholarly works in online environments.

1. Accessing Online Resources with the Ursus Proxy Bookmarklet

The UMS Libraries Proxy Bookmarklet allows you to quickly and easily access restricted journal articles and ebooks discovered on a publisher’s website while conducting research on the open internet if the library has a subscription. When you are prompted for a login or hit a paywall, the proxy bookmarklet will reload your page through the University’s proxy server and return you to the journal site as an authenticated user.

2. Help Planning Your Spring Courses

As you reflect on the fall semester and start thinking about spring courses, Fogler librarians are available to help you save time planning your curricula.

If you want to explore new ways to implement library resources or information literacy training in your courses, get in touch with your subject specialist for a consultation. Your subject specialist can work with you to develop readings or coursework specific to your field or discipline
