2024 issue of the UMaine Libraries Magazine now available online

Are you looking for some holiday reading? UMaine Libraries is proud to announce that the 2024 issue of the UMaine Libraries Magazine (formerly the Raymond H. Fogler Magazine) is now available on Fogler Library’s website. This issue features 12 stories covering a wide range of topics, including a dive into how Fogler Library is assisting in efforts to restore a vanishing salt marsh in Surry; reminiscences of a former UMaine athlete, the great granddaughter of Maine inventor Chester Greenwood, and the family of Raymond H. Fogler; how the Fogler’s Patent and Trademark Resource Center supports Maine’s inventors and innovation; the legacy and future plans of UMaine Press; Maine InfoNet’s support of UMaine Libraries’ new library system; and the digitization of the University of Maine at Machias’ Washingtonia yearbook.

A PDF of the magazine is also available for download in the library’s Digital Commons.

Trial Announcement: Bangor Daily News

Fogler Library is conducting a trial of Bangor Daily News, available now through Feb. 10, 2025. The trial gives you access to searchable page images of the Bangor Daily News and its predecessor, Bangor Daily Whig & Courier. You can read articles published as far back as 1836. Note that there are a few gaps in coverage where content will be added later. Explore access to this resource while we have it and share your thoughts with us!

Please send feedback about the trial to Deborah Rollins, Head, Collection Services Dept. at drollins@maine.edu.

Greeting card wishing readers a wonderful holiday and a happy new year.
