1. Books in My Life: Reading that Transforms with Jane Wellman-Little
Time & Date: February 22, 7pm-8pm
Location: Library Classroom
In this series, members of the UMaine community will speak about their experience of reading, their awakening as readers, their past and current best books (and maybe even their worst reads). They’ll venture far outside their scholarly fields and bring us into the world of their personal reading.
The next installment of this series will feature Jane Wellman-Little, a faculty member in the College of Education and Human Development. Please share this event with any students, staff, or faculty who might be interested in attending.
2. Introduction to Microsoft Excel Workshop
Time & Date: February 23, 6pm-8pm
Location: Library Classroom
This workshop will provide attendees with an introduction to Excel. This introduction will cover the Excel interface, how to interpret data and make basic tables and figures, and how to manipulate large amounts of data using pivot tables.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to utilize frequently used tools in Microsoft Excel.
About the Presenter: Shuling Chen is an M.S. Candidate in Marine Policy. Her research focuses on measuring the impact of temporary pollution closures on soft-shell clam fisheries.
3. New Email for Circulation and Reserve Queries
Queries regarding circulation or reserves at Fogler Library can now be directed to um.library.circ@maine.edu. For more information about submitting reserve materials to Fogler Library, please see our online overview.
4. Grants 101 Workshop
Time & Date: March 16, 10am-12pm
Location: Library Classroom
The Office of the Vice President for Research and Fogler Library are offering “Grants101: Seeking, Analyzing, and Writing Basics.” At the workshop, you will:
- find grants in PIVOT
- analyze an agency’s Request for Proposals
- learn Grant Writing Basics
