Resources for the wider community
Orono’s Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC) is a public service of the University of Maine’s Fogler Library in partnership with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The PTRC is on the first floor of the Fogler Library on the University of Maine campus.
Welcome to the Maine Business, Science & Technology Library (MBSTL).
As the state designated research library for business, science and technology, the librarians at Fogler Library have compiled a series of resources to support the people of Maine in those areas. We’ve carefully selected and curated these resources into a variety of subject areas. Each subject area contains links to websites and articles relevant to that field. If you’d like to learn more about why we chose the resources we did, go to our Mission Statement and Selection Criteria page.
Fogler Library’s Special Collections Department was established in 1970 as a repository for Maine-related material. Virtually all available printed bibliographical, historical, and descriptive works on the state as well as literary titles by Maine authors are housed in this department.
Books, pamphlets, state documents, and other forms of printed material provide extensive coverage of Maine’s cities, towns, counties, people and institutions. These printed resources are complemented by a substantial body of original source material. While the collections are largely Maine-related, some material pertaining to broader subject areas, such as maritime history, are also found in the department.
Fogler Library is a regional depository for U.S. Government publications. We are a selective depository for Canadian, and we have United Nations documents. The Government Publications Department is located on the third floor of the library. Government Publications is a vital resource to the nation. If you are a member of the general public and not connected in some way with the University you can still access these resources either electronically through our web pages, through searching our LibrarySearch, or by contacting us directly by phone at 207.581.1688 or via email at gregory.t.curtis@maine.edu.
Hot Topics guides are will help you begin research in areas currently in the news. These guides contain resources that may not be accessible off campus.
The Salon is a place for our community to congregate, discuss, and collaborate on ideas. We hope that the multidisciplinary Salon Series, with rich topical themes, will foster the kind of conversations and action that will be remembered for a lifetime. Please join our (hybrid) Salon Series for interesting conversation and refreshments.
The Raymond H. Fogler Library Magazine covers stories, news, and events from Fogler Library at the University of Maine. For more information about the magazine or to suggest a story, please contact Christopher Clark.
