Framework for Assessing Information Literacy Across the Disciplines

Once again, Fogler Library is partnering with the Office of Assessment to offer an Information Literacy Assessment workshop for instructors at UMaine. Below is information about the workshop and a registration link. Refreshments will be provided.

Framework for Assessing Information Literacy Across the Disciplines: May 23rd, 2017, 2:00 – 4:00 PM in the University Club in Fogler Library: This session will be facilitated by Nancy Lewis, Head of Reference Services at Fogler Library, and librarian instructors of Fogler Library’s course, LBR 200: Information Literacy.

Description of session:  Subject librarians from Fogler Library’s Information Literacy team will facilitate a conversation focused on developing both a shared vocabulary and appropriate tools for assessing information literacy skills. Using the Information Literacy VALUE Rubric as a guiding document, the group will consider examples of assignments gathered from a range of disciplines. Participants will discuss ways to incorporate information literacy into existing curricula and assignments.

Who is it for? All faculty (tenured, tenure-track, lecturers, adjunct teaching faculty), and teaching assistants.

What is the intent? To identify ways to assess information literacy competencies within a range of disciplines.

This session is part of an ongoing series on writing, quantitative reasoning, and critical thinking.
