Special Collections

Fogler Library’s Special Collections Department, established in 1970, serves as a major repository for Maine-related materials.

The department houses nearly all available printed bibliographical, historical, and descriptive works on Maine, as well as literary titles by Maine authors. Its holdings include books, pamphlets, state documents, and other printed materials which offer extensive coverage of Maine’s cities, towns, counties, people, and institutions.

These resources are complemented by a substantial collection of original source materials, including manuscripts and rare items.
